SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – June 2, 2008 – Hiland Dairy, an innovator in the dairy industry, announced today the launch of its new Homestyle Churn ice-cream line.
“Consumers have told us that they want all the goodness of Hiland Dairy ice cream, but with less fat and calories,” said Ted Barlows, Hiland Dairy General Sales Manager. “Updating our low fat and nonfat product line up with new Homestyle Churn ice cream is one way we strive to illustrate our responsiveness to consumer demand.”
The ice cream is produced with new ingredient technology that produces a smooth and creamy texture. This eliminates the need for additional milkfat in the ice cream to prevent the formation of ice crystals. (Ice crystals cause ice cream to develop an unfavorable grainy texture.)
