Hiland-Roberts Ice Cream Company is located in Norfolk, Nebraska, and is the site of Nebraska's only active ice cream production facility.

Hiland-Roberts produces over 8 million gallons of ice cream, lite ice cream, fat free ice cream and sherbets annually.

Hiland-Roberts produces all sizes from the 3-gallon tub for dipping stores and institutions to 12-oz. malt cups.

Plant Specifications

Premium Quality Fast-Hardening Systems: (Zero core temperature in 6 to 8 hours.)

  • "Tri-tray" hardening for all 3-gallon tubs, squares and buckets
  • "Rollerbed" hardening for all malt cups, half-gallon rounds and pints

Freezer Capacities:

  • 260 Crepaco Freezer (2 barrel – 1,200 gallons per hour)
  • 360 Crepaco Freezer (3 barrel – 1,800 gallons per hour)
  • 460 Crepaco Freezer (4 barrel – 2,400 gallons per hour)
  • Total freezing capacity of 5,400 gallons per hour

Refrigeration:

  • State-of-the-art PLC controlled engine room
  • Over 1,000 tons of refrigeration
  • Chart recording of all freezers to insure a constant temperature of 20 degrees

Cold Storage:

  • Seven-story, state-of-the-art high-rise freezer (1,500 pallets)
  • Total square feet = 27,000

Hiland-Roberts can store up to 100 truckloads of ice cream

Mix Making Facilities:

  • 2,500 gallons per hour high temperature short time
  • 5,000 - 6,000-gallon cream and condense tanks
  • 20,000 - 30,000 raw milk silos
  • 55,000 gallons of pasteurized mix storage in a total of 9 tanks
